Good news for states people. Electricity generation is set to ramp up with the installation of solar plants on government office rooftops. This initiative will not only boost electricity production but also help save on electricity bills. A survey is currently underway to assess the needs for this project, with installation work expected to kick off by the end of next month. The goal is to generate around 4.5 million units of electricity annually.
The plan involves placing solar panels on all government buildings across the state, which will supply power to the local electricity distribution company while cutting down on costs. Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL) has assigned the task to M/s Pratap Technocrat Limited from Jaipur for the Rajsamand and Bhilwara districts.
In the first phase, the firm is surveying government departments in Rajsamand. So far, they’ve completed assessments for 6-7 departments, looking into how many solar panels are needed, the required kilowatt connections, and the best spots for installation. With this groundwork laid, the installation of solar plants in government offices is anticipated to start by the end of next month.
Solar energy systems will be set up on all types of government buildings in the district, from district headquarters to local panchayats. A total of 3.5 megawatts of solar power will be generated across 96 buildings. Once the solar plants are operational, some of the electricity will be used by government offices, while the surplus will be fed back to the local grid, contributing to the state’s overall electricity production.
Fact Sheet
Every day, 12,250 units of electricity will be generated across 96 offices.
Annually, approximately 4.5 million units of electricity will be produced.
The department incurs electricity expenses exceeding Rs 4 crore each year.
Rajasthan Akshay Urja Nigam Limited has assigned a single company the task of setting up solar plants in government offices located in the Rajsamand and Bhilwara districts. Over 200 government departments in these areas will receive solar energy equipment. The goal is to generate electricity through the installation of 6.5 MW plants in both districts, with a plan to set up 3.5 MW solar energy plants specifically in Rajsamand.
Solar plants are set to be installed in government offices soon.
In Rajsamand district, 3.5 MW plants will be established at government offices, with the project managed by Rajasthan Akshay Urja Nigam Limited. The responsible firm is currently conducting surveys, after which the installation of the plants will commence.
